A hint of maple flavor and a delicate sweetness make even a dull sausage something special.
3 tablespoons butter
2 onions, thinly sliced
4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 pound sausages
1/4 cup maple syrup
Set oven to 350 degrees F.
Saut? onion and apple in butter in a large frying pan until lightly browned. Remove to a shallow baking dish.
In the same pan brown the sausages well on all sides. Lay them on top of the onions and apples and pour maple syrup over the top. Bake about 30 minutes.
Wonderful served with hot corn bread or Home Fries.
Serves 4.
